Health Benefits of Apples
The old saying 'An apple a day keeps the doctor away' might be more true than we realize. There has been 100's of research studies conducted that have found that eating apples or drinking apple juice can help lower our risk of developing heart disease, cancers and other health conditions. The best thing is, we can reap these benefits through some very tasty apple juice recipes.
One research study found that giving people either one apple or a 12 oz glass of apple juice daily actually lowered their blood pressure. Another study found that women who ate apples everyday were much less likely to develop lung cancer than those who ate no apples.
Apple Juice Recipes #1 - Lemony Apple
2 apples
1 lemon - flesh only
1" slice of fresh ginger root - optional
This recipe works great cold or hot. In the summer this juice is really refreshing if chilled before hand and also if ice cubes are added just before serving. In the winter, this juice is great warmed up with a little added honey. It is also great as a cold remedy and sure beats the pants off a powdered cold remedy from the pharmacy - at least as far as taste goes!
If you like ginger and you are adding it to this recipe, I recommend juicing the ginger first and then follow up with apples and lemon. This will help flush more of the ginger into the juice.
Apple Juice Recipes #2 - Apple Pie Juice
4 sweet apples
1 large carrot
1/2 tsp of nutmeg
1/2 tsp of cinnamon
Put the nutmeg and cinnamon in the juicer first then add the apples and carrots and wallah - apple pie juice! This juice is a favorite of mine and is delicious served in a glass over ice cubes. The left over pulp can also be used as apple sauce!

3 carrots
2 stalks of celery
1 cup of spinach
