Bring 7-Eleven Home With A Hot Dog Roller

What's your favorite part about your local 7-Eleven?  The Slurpee machine?  That's mine too, but the goodness of the hot dog roller is a close second.  Well, maybe it's third - I really like the beer fridge.  Oh, and Abad makes some great freakin' coffee in the morning.  Ok, somewhere in the mix I really enjoy picking up six or seven dogs off the hot dog roller grill.  Throwing dogs on the charcoal grill is probably my favorite way to eat them - I think it's just something about the smoke, but you really can't beat the perfect uniformity that hot dog rollers provide.

Cooking wieners in the microwave is just unnatural.  I mean, we're already making a meal out of phallic shaped pig parts - do we really have to take it a step further by nuking the dang things?  The answer is no - we don't.

"Yeh, but those hot dog roller grills at the ball games and the convenient stores are huge, and they must cost a fortune".  Yeh, they are pretty huge, and you're looking at anywhere from $700-$2000 for a nice commercial wiener roaster, but I have some good news.  Nostalgic Electrics has created a counter top hot dog roller that cooks either eight regular sized franks or four foot longs at a time.  It also has a bun warmer built into the top.  In addition, if you're not feeling wieners (I said feeling wieners) at the time, you can swap out the rollers for the included flat top grill.  Make eggs, pork chops, zucchini recipes...whatever you want to grill up.  You can find this little gem for as low as $35 online.  The best part is, it's guaranteed to be the most horrifyingly cheesy addition to your kitchen.  It's all dressed up like an old 50s style hot dog cart.  I wish I had one of these little buggers in college.  That Foreman Grill just wasn't tacky enough.

If eight quarter pound dogs at once isn't going to cut it, you may want to look into stepping your hot dog roller up a notch.  The Adcraft RG-09 cooks and holds up to 24 hot dogs at a time.  You'll be the life of the party, or the high school football game with this puppy (no pun intended).  It's about 2' x 1.5', and all stainless steel, so it may be a little tougher to fit next to your toaster at home, but if you really freaking love hot dogs, go ahead and drop $225 on this bad boy.

So, 24 dogs just won't do it.  You're either a guy who really loves wieners, or always has to have the best of the best (or you have a commercial concession stand) if you're interested in the Grill Max Duratec Hot Dog Roller Grill 75SC.  Plug this beast into the wall, and it will cook 75 hot dogs at a time.  This monster will let run 24/7 365 cooking up hot dogs maintenance free.  That's right, you can cook 1000 franks on this thing without having grease plug up your operation.  All of its rollers are double sealed for supreme ease of use.  The only real drawback to the Grill Max is that it costs almost $2000, but if you really like wieners...

There you have it.  All a layman could ever care to know about the hot dog roller world.  Personally, I'm sticking with my Retro grill, but you feel free to knock yourself out my friend!
