Comparing Tassimo vs Keurig

bosch cappuccino makerSo you are in the market for a new single serve coffee maker.  These are wonderful machines that have revolutionized the industry and the way that we drink our favorite coffee drinks.  There are a couple different systems that compete for your buying dollar.  I am compare some of the difference of the Tassimo vs Keurig coffee brewing systems.

In the end, feel comfortable that both systems will make you a cup of coffee.  Much of the difference is around how they get to the end cup of coffee, what options do each brewing systems have, and how many coffee manufacturers support their product.

Tassimo has designed their T-Discs as their answer to the K-Cup and Pods.  The company licenses their technology so you may find brewers from other companies like Bosch and Braun.  These units can range in price from $80 to over $200 depending upon the features.  One unique feature that all Tassimo brewers have is a bar code reader that reads the T-Disc that was inserted to customize the brewing cycle (such as water, heat, or time) to maximize the taste.  This brewer can also be used to make espresso, cappuccino, and other premium drink mixes with ingredients beyond just coffee and using the bar code to know what it is making, the brewer will adjust automatically to make a perfect drink.

The Keurig has been around longer.  They manufacturer Kcups.    This is a well made system, but only Kuerig sells machines that can brew these cups (other manufacturers will claim that you can use the Kcups, but none will call their brewer a K-Cup brewer because of licensing restrictions).  The company actually licenses the design of their KCup to coffee manufacturers to put their products in them.  Consequently, you will find a wide selection of coffee flavors and variety with the Keurig system.  Make sure to check if your favorite is made (one example is that Starbucks only packages their coffee in T-Discs, currently).

Either coffee system will meet your needs if you are looking for a simple cup of coffee.  Do your homework and find the brewer that work for you.
